Consultant Training

YOUR FIRST 12 WEEKS

(or ANY 12 weeks!)

Edited by Janice Elam & Nancy Ann Wartman

Weeks 1 and 2

* Listen to the Basic Training CD by Nancy Ann Wartman & Ruth Smith.  This CD comes in you kit.

* Make a copy of your One Step at a Time progress sheet. Put it on your refrigerator or other prominent place so you can track your progress daily. Set your goals now! Write up a list of $350 in discounted and free books you’ll earn for reaching Platinum.

* Date your first home shows. Many new consultants like hosting their first show themselves.  With UBAH you may be both the consultant and the hostess for your own show!  Work toward getting six shows booked during the first month - this may be more than you want to do, but after you've had six shows in a close amount of time you'll feel comfortable doing shows and you will have had some great shows, some not-so-good shows and a couple of average shows.  You will have enough experience to really judge how you like this business AND you will have made enough money to pay for your kit and have profit!  Get your calendar, note personal commitments, and circle all the dates on which you can work. Call all your family members, friends, and neighbors -- tell them about your new business and the extra incentives you have for your first hostesses (DOUBLE MERCHANDISE ALLOWANCE). Let your excitement shine through.   A good pace is two shows a week. A busy schedule allows for cancellations.

* Check out Order Pro Online - to get there, log into the company website and near the top left click on MY ORDERPRO .  It is a point & click ordering software!  You may want to order more supplies (catalogs, hostess guides, invitations, and customer order forms).  The shipping charges are less to order supplies along with a book order.

* Read your manual three times: the first time, you may feel overwhelmed; the second time, you’ll write down all your questions; the third time, you’ll answer 98% of them. Now that you’ve read through the manual, call your sponsor or supervisor with your questions.

* Read your new Usborne books! Read them with your children, pass them to your neighbor for an overnight critique, take them with you everywhere you go. Familiarize yourself with the catalog.  Study the Hostess Guide.

* If you got a website along with your kit, your web address is www.UBAH.com/yourID#.  If you didn't get one and would like to, visit www.UBAH.com/demo.

* If possible, attend any available home shows or meetings and online chat trainings. If you’re long distance from your sponsor or supervisor, be in contact with your sponsor and supervisor, visit the company website message board, attend chat trainings online, view the chat training logs of topics of interest. If you’re in an area by yourself, don’t worry! You’ll develop your own style quickly and can learn what you need through this manual and by talking with your upline support group.

* Things to emphasize these first two weeks:

• how to hostess coach

• how to do a presentation

• how to date bookings at a show

• how to write up customer orders

* Your enthusiasm will be contagious! It’s fun to build this business with someone -- talk to everyone about signing up with you. In particular, many consultants were hostesses or shows guests first.

Weeks 3, 4, and 5

* Do your home shows! Set a goal of dating three shows from each home show within the next three to four weeks. Review your customer survey sheets -- maybes are yes's!

* Close your shows and write them up on Order Pro. Read the section on writing up orders several times, it will answer most of your questions. If you get stuck, call or email your sponsor or supervisor for help!

Weeks 6 through 11

* You will earn sales bonuses each month on all sales except bookfairs. As you sponsor people into the business, you’ll earn recruit bonuses on their sales. Each month you sell at least $350 net you earn the 4% recruit bonus and the 3% sales bonus level, sell at least $700 net to earn the 5% bonus level.  It's best to reach that 5% bonus each month at the $700 level, then you could use that to purchase any supplies you need for the following month. During your 1st 12 weeks you earn certificates for $50 in books for $15 when you sponsor each of your first two consultants!  What an added incentive!!!

* Study our online training and the consultant handbook sections on book fairs and fund raisers. This is a good time to order your Educational Consultant kit to proceed with school and library sales.

Week 12

* Make sure all your orders arrive at the home office by the morning of your incentive date.  You can track your sales on the home office consultant's-only web site:  http://www.ubah.com/consultants

Week 13 and beyond!

* Maintain a healthy booking schedule. Expand your network of contacts and events at which you can set up a book display. Set new goals for your business -- where do you want to be next month, next quarter, in the next six months? Talk to your sponsor and supervisor about promoting to supervisor.

Study 3 Month Push to Supervisor - There's no limit to what you can do with this business!

You Can Do It!!!
