TIPS & TIDBITS
from the Convention
shared during 6/27 group chat

<Jen P, MN> Be as passionate
about sharing the business as you are about the books.
<Sharon Ohlson, CA> With all our sales, we impacted the literacy
of 1.5 million children!
<Tressa Nelson> focus - promising to do 45 min a day, no matter what
will help me
<Ann Boman DiMarco OR> The state of Arizona looks at the rate of
literacy for 3rd graders to see how many prisons to build :( We can
touch so many lives for the better :)
<Bridget, IN> Ruth helped me to think about how I would feel if no
one had shared this opportunity with me, and this helps a lot when I
begin to try to recruit others.

<Lisa Newpower, MN> Don't do 165 things each day -- concentrate on
one thing at a time. You don't have to do it ALL right NOW.
<Sharon Ohlson, CA> Jim also said, "Don't just do your best, but do
what it takes!"
<Tricia in Cincy OH> You don't have to make big changes to make a
difference in your business. Small things done over time turn into
big things!

<Wendy Kennedy, IN> what you are doing now will
impact your business 4 to 6 months from now.
<Lisa Newpower, MN> Make a list of 10 things you want to do and do
them
|
|
Individual and group
recognition,
excellence in training,
new titles,
bargain bookstore,
fun,
friends
and so much more!
<Kelly George, OH> the importance of seeing the positive in
everything, .....everything can be "TERRIFIC!"
<Bridget, IN> Don't prejudge and not share the opportunity because
of what you think they want or don't want to do.

<Tressa Nelson> keep a small box of books, catalogs, agreements and
flyers in the vehicle. Have at least 5 recruit packets on hand
<Julie L C - NE> The tip that made the biggest impression on me
was that the dirty dishes would be left in the sink if I had an
office job, so put them off until I get my Usborne done every day.
<Teresa Larios, OR> "If you're feeling uncomfortable recruiting,
it's time to think about THEM rather than yourself. It's all
about THEM!"
<Lisa Newpower, MN> After seeing all the different people at
convention, I realized that ANYONE is a possibility to do this
business -- you cannot pre-judge!
<Susan
Wandishin, CO> service entire schools, ask the librarian, "Who
else can I help?"
<Kelly George, OH> Doing my next booth with a goal of recruiting
and NOT selling
<Laura Lilly-Stephens> Be enthusiastic about the books and
the company and people will be drawn to you.
<Tressa Nelson> Keep your calendar full of family and
business events, your calendar will look full, reinforces to
your potential hostesses that you time is a precious
commodity

<Lisa Newpower, MN> I mail my business card with every bill I pay --
the person processing the payment just might hate their job
<Carolyn Brown, NC> Believe in the program and share your
excitement. Honestly nothing in the "fundraising" arena beats
it! Help them understand 100% return. And that having the books is
better than having the cash. What else could a school want/need
than our books?!
<Debbie Burget, WV> Use inTouch Mailing Lists for you customer
e-newsletters. When you send BCC many ISP's think it is spam and
the recipient never even gets it & sending COPY shares their email
addy with others.
<Debbie P, IL> when you are working to sponsor someone say "give it
a try for 4 shows and if you don't like it you can walk away" that
way they should bronze
|
<Jan Gomez, OH> You call guests 2 days before to establish
relationship, greet guests at door, have them pick out 2 books they
like to share later...keeps them away from food right away so they
can focus on the books.
<Courtney Roberts, NC> make sure you are working consistently--when
something is going out the door have something coming in
<Kelley, oh> have the hostess introduce you instead of you
introducing yourself at the homeshow.
<Bridget, IN> Even if you do not feel comfortable with all the
different avenues of sales with our company, know about them. So
you can share with your recruits.
<Courtney Roberts, NC> make customer care calls, tomorrow! Get
feedback from your customers
|

<Tressa Nelson> give out your business cards like they were candy
<Karen Baize, AL> take new catalogs and books to the hospital & dr.
appointments. My kids are always asking if they can read mommy's
books.
<Wendy Kennedy, IN> Never Give up -- Those who are successful have
never quit!
<Tricia in Cincy OH> If you actually LISTEN, customers will tell you
what they want. Our job is to give it to them
