During my years with UBAH I've done different types of
shows and still vary from show to show. Often I do the DUCKS
home show presentation. Here is one of my favorites:
At my shows I usually just talk for about 20 minutes. It's better to
leave them wanting more information, than less! Sometimes when people arrive I have them
each select a book that interests them, something their kids might like or what is close
to them. They will be looking through this book, because they just can't help it. This
helps give them something to do while we wait for latecomers.
- I introduce myself and why I'm selling. (Everyone's reason for selling is a little
different.)
- I introduce the books, Peter Usborne, mention that they could earn many free books by
having a show, mention that I am part of a very successful group and they could join our
group if they'd like.
- I have each person tell me their name, ages of children, and something they like
about the book they are holding. This gets them talking, takes the pressure off of you to
say everything. You can add on to what they say, like this "the pictures in that book
are full of detail. And there's a little duck hiding on each page. Children from toddlers
to elementary school love to find the duck. It's an early level of puzzle books. We have
puzzle books that go on up and some are even challenging for adults."
- I show a three or four books that I have saved back that I especially want to talk
about. There are a couple that would be my personal favorites. 123 is one of my kids'
favorites. So much to do in that book! Also, I love the First Story Book. High picture to
text ratio - duck on each page to find - stories are the right length.
I show Kid Kits and mention the Customer Specials. This is a fantastic deal for you!
- I say, "If your wish list is getting long, remember you can get many free books
by hosting a show. We have one of the most generous hostess plans in the Direct Selling
Association. Please note on your door prize slip or talk with me if you're interested.
Also, if you're interested in selling Usborne Books or know someone who might be, please
let me know. Its a great opportunity to "work" as little or as much as you
want to - you can get the books at wholesale or work 15-20 hours a week building a
business or anything in between! I have information about that too."
"Well, now is the fun part of the show. Let's look at the books! I'm happy to
answer any questions about the books and help you fill out your order form when
youre ready."
That's it! WHEW! Have Fun!
